We challenge you to a year of seeking out adventures, new places, and new experiences in your own backyard.
“Adventure is stretching yourself; mentally, physically or culturally. It is about doing what you do not normally do, pushing yourself hard and doing it to the best of your ability. And if that is true, then adventure is all around us, at all times.”
Alastair Humphreys – 2011 Nominee for National Geographic Explorer Adventurer of the Year for his “Year of Micro Adventures” alastairhumphreys.com
Micro adventures are expeditions, adventures, journeys, trips that are close to home, affordable, easy to plan, and designed to encourage people to get out there and do stuff! We invite you to take on the 2012 Paddle and Trail Micro Adventure Challenge. Building off of Alastair Humphrey’s Year of Micro Adventure idea, we want you develop your own Micro Adventure Plan for 2012. Pick 12 things you’d like to do. Write your ideas down, share them with us, make a plan, do them! We’ve given you some kick start ideas below, but feel free to do your own.
Sign up the challenge and you’ll automatically be entered in the Micro Adventure Challenge Sweepstakes, with one cool prize awarded each month to a lucky participant. We’ll also send you exclusive monthly deals, new challenges and ideas to get active.

Hi – I’m a single mom who has gotten into a rut and lost my adventurous inclination and partipation in outdoor activities. Glad I found this site – could use some motivation. Thanks, Christina
I’m so happy to see this – I really hope it is a great success!
Good luck,
Alastair
