Whitewater Weekend with World Champion Eric Jackson – May 4-5

On May 3-5 Paddle and Trail and Geneva Kayak Center is celebrating the grand opening of the Outdoor Leadership Center 301 Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville, IL. Eric Jackson, president of Jackson Kayak, who is also a four-time whitewater freestyle world champion will be on hand Friday and Saturday for clinics, demos and social time. Jackson will be training OLC whitewater coaches, and then holding 3-hour Strokes and Concepts Clinics. If you want to learn basic moves, run creeks or improve your freestyle skills, this clinic offers the perfect opportunity to learn these skills from a world champion.

Get “hands on” coaching and feedback from world champion Eric Jackson! Take advantage of one of three chances to work with Eric during his Strokes, Concepts & Playboating clinics on the Fox River in Yorkville. Cost: 200.00 per person, call 630-882-9211 to make reservations for the clinics

What You’ll Learn: Strokes, Concepts & Playboating is EJ’s trademark workshop which focuses on learning to do the basics more easily, and then applying them to playboating and running rapids. Each course will start with a tune-up of foundation skills like basic strokes, body positioning and the concepts of paddling. The course will head out on the river to work on using the techniques in real life. The course is gear to modern short playboats, and is especially great for experience paddlers who are moving into these boats

• Revision & Refinement of basics through hands-on work with EJ
• Well round boating skills from the use of precision stroke work.
• Better play, advanced river running and creeking skills as you apply these fundamentals to more advanced technique

Who Should Take the Clinic? – There are clinics for anyone who has a solid roll, all the way to advanced paddlers. Not there yet? Our coaches are trained by and use EJ’s methods in our Level 1 & 2 Whitewater courses. Courses are offered May 4 & 5.

Movie Night with Eric Jackson – Friday May 4, 7:00pm – Kendall Pub, 201 S. Bridge St, Yorkville, IL. Join EJ, Geneva Kayak, Paddle and Trail on Friday night at the Kendall Pub to watch some Whitewater Films featuring EJ. Free and open to the public.

Jackson Kayak Demos - Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, 4:00 – 7:00pm, Check out the new Jackson Whitewater boats and other line of Jackson boats. When you get off the water, talk to the man who designed them! Cost $10 – 630-882-9211 to make reservations for demos.
