The Windsor Lake Fishing League will be a four-week fishing series hosted by Paddle and Trail of Loves Park, Illinois. All fishing abilities are welcome and our main emphasis will be on having fun, learning new fishing techniques and skills all while getting to meet other kayak anglers from the region. Anglers will be allowed to fish from human powered watercraft or from the shoreline (no motorized boats allowed). This will be a unique and sustainable approach to fishing in that we will be judging the fish caught based on a catch, photo and release format. All fish will be released immediately upon taking a photo with an approved fish measuring device that shall be provided to all participants in the Windsor Lake Fishing League.

Monster 7.5 lb. bass from Windsor Lake
I have personally been fishing in Windsor Lake since last summer and have been catching great fish out there this year. With the early season temperatures I was pulling decent bass out of the water as early as April 1st, well before the spawning even began. Since this time I have caught numerous Largemouth Bass in the 4-5 lb. range and a good amount of fish over 5 lbs. with one tipping the scale at 7.5 lbs. The fishing is excellent for many other species as well including large carp and musky. There are also plenty of bluegill which is the main source of food for the larger fish and the main reason that the sport fishing is so excellent in Windsor Lake. As such we want to keep this fishery healthy for many generations to come and have therefore decided it best to instate a catch a release policy for the sport fish in Windsor Lake year round. Utilizing a catch and photo based format will ensure that fish are out of the water for the least amount of time and in so doing reduce the amount of stress put on them.
At the end of each fishing league there will be a gathering for those who have participated to discuss the fishing techniques that they employed and what has worked the best for them. At this time we will also have a prize ceremony where we have some amazing giveaways including a sit-on top fishing kayak and thousands of dollars worth of fishing and kayak related product giveaways.

We are offering a one-time low introductory price for joining in our first Windsor Lake Fishing League – $65 per person for the 4-week series league which includes boat rental. If you become a member of the Mad Anglers Fishing Club, entry is $50 and you can bring your own boat.
